Rooms & sizes
What size rug do you need?
The short answer: in a living room, go big enough for at least the front legs of your sofa to sit on the rug. Here is the room-by-room breakdown.
Living room
For a sofa and chairs, you want the front legs of the furniture on the rug, or the whole setup on it.
Bedroom
Center the rug under the bed so it extends past the sides where your feet land.
Kitchen, entryway & hallway
High-traffic, spill-prone strips. This is where washable really earns its keep.
All sizes
| Size | Dimensions | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| 3' × 5' | 36" × 60" | Entryways, kids corners, in front of the sink |
| 2.5' × 8' | 30" × 96" | Hallways, galley kitchens |
| 5' × 7' | 60" × 84" | Small living rooms, bedrooms, play spaces |
| 5' × 8' | 60" × 96" | Queen beds, compact sofas |
| 8' × 10' | 96" × 120" | Living rooms, under the full furniture group |
Between two sizes? Go larger. A rug that is slightly too big always looks more intentional than one that floats too small in the room.
